HITEC recognized the HITEC 100, a list of the 100 most influential Hispanic leaders in the technology industry, recipients of its 2019 Corporate Awards and the inaugural HITEC Hall of Fame Inductees on the evening of October 24, 2019, at the San Francisco Airport Marriott Waterfront.

HITEC 100 Honorees:

HITEC is proud to recognize the top 100 technology executive leaders that happen to be Hispanic. They represent the top tier talent that is making a positive impact on the technology industry, and they also serve as role models to the next generation of leaders that are accelerating in their respective businesses and communities.

As we continue in our effort to reach gender parity, we're proud to report that 45 percent of this year's HITEC 100 are women and 47 percent of the awardees are leaders at Fortune 500 companies.

Estrella Award:

Congratulations to Estrella Award recipient, Miriam Kakol-Hernandez, Principal & Global Head of Management Consulting Practice, KPMG, LLP.

"What's great about HITEC is it gives us a platform for really being able to elevate and to Pushup-Pullup, but also to see all of our passions that we have about how to bring up our people, young women, young people who want to be able to achieve all of their ambitions. What gets me going in the morning is how do I help elevate people who want to accomplish their ambitions, just giving them the opportunities to do it. Business will be better for it, our communities will be better for it, and our lives will be better for it."

Member of the Year:

Congratulations to Member of the Year Award recipient, Darrell Higueros, Chief Executive Officer, Next Generation Inc. (NGI).

"I'm truly happy and honored to be named HITEC's Member of the Year. I've been with HITEC since it's first meeting 12 years ago and I can say that I'm very happy to see the growth and all of the accomplishments we've had thus far. But I'm more excited about the future of HITEC and the things we're going to do."

Thank You Anne-Marie for Your Service:

HITEC is proud to recognize Anne-Marie Azzi for her vision and leadership in helping develop HITEC’s Emerging Executives Program. Since 2014, 191 leaders have completed the program, advancing in their careers and helping contribute to our growing community of Hispanic technology executives.

The HITEC Foundation:

Thanks to the generous donations of the HITEC community, the HITEC Foundation raised over 250,000 dollars. These monies will help to further the mission of the HITEC Foundation to enable the next generation of Hispanic technology talent through a life cycle that begins with students and uses the power of its community to continuously inspire forward.

HITEC Foundation scholars Isabel Gallegos, a sophomore at Stanford University and Marcus Chavez, a freshman at Santa Clara University, shared their personal journeys and how the HITEC Foundation has made a fundamental difference in the realization of their dreams.

"I can't be what I can't see, and what I see here is a room filled with people who look like me and talk like me, and who are just as passionate about technology. I hope to one day inspire the next generation the way that you all have inspired me," said Isabel Gallegos, HITEC Scholar."

"It's really empowering to see this vibrant community here and it's really giving me inspiration and clarity on my goals for the future....standing in this room today full of successful Hispanics in technology brings me satisfaction and confidence that my goals are realizable," said Marcus Chavez, HITEC Scholar."

Thank you to everyone who donated! Without you, the impact we're making would not be possible.

We're excited to continue expanding our reach and we look forward to having a greater impact as we grow in 2020.
