“We believe in the power of this program and the value it creates for you.” - Omar Duque, President, HITEC addresses the Emerging Executive Program (EEP) fellows and mentors.
EEP fellows gathered on July 31, 2019 for a full-day of programming at the HITEC Summer Leadership Summit hosted by Freddie Mac. It's the first time HITEC held programming at a summer summit. Onsite programming was developed in response to the high demand for additional sessions and we're pleased with the high turnout from this year's fellows class and mentors. EEP continues to deliver value to its member companies who partner with HITEC to develop the next generation of Hispanic technology leaders.
Ivan Vega, Director, Freddie Mac, shared with EEP fellows the best advice his mentor, Frank DeArmas, gave him during a fireside chat with Anne-Marie Azzi, HITEC EEP Program Chair: "When it comes to messaging, get an understanding of your audience. Don't assume your audience needs to know everything. Let them seek more information from you." Ivan also encouraged members of the EEP cohort to network, reach out outside their comfort zone and to get to know their cohort members as ways for getting the most out of their EEP experience.
HITEC Emerging Executives gained invaluable insight into the role and needs of corporate boards and tips to better equip the participants to present to their company’s board, build strategic perspective and begin to develop their own long term roadmap to the boardroom in a KPMG Board Leadership Center: BoardFit presentation titled, "Window into the Boardroom" presented by KPMG Senior Advisors, Susan Angele, and Stephen L. Brown.
Through a series of use-cases, Anthony (Tony) DeLima, Head of Digital Transformation & Global CTO for NEORIS, educated participants on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the financial services industry and impressed upon the group the importance of understanding the interaction of AI & Machine Learning, Knowledge Graphs, and Predictive Analytics. These are skills professionals in the technology industry need to learn in order to remain relevant.
The Emerging Executive Program (EEP) develops emerging Hispanic technology leaders with the highest potential and desire to become the next generation of Hispanic technology executive leaders. HITEC continues to evolve, providing personal development and growth. A critical component of that success is our Emerging Executive Program, which is a cornerstone of our core mission – to develop future Hispanic technology professionals and business leaders.
