HITEC 2019-2020 CORPORATION OF THE YEAR

Microsoft to receive prestigious Corporation of the Year Award for their exemplary leadership and commitment to HITEC and the Hispanic community.

Microsoft has been a committed HITEC partner and champion since 2017, hosting HITEC’s 2018 Summer Leadership Summit at their Redmond headquarters. Microsoft embodies the spirit of the HITEC Familia. Their leadership in technology and inclusion serves as an example as we collectively work to build the next generation of Hispanic technology leaders.

Every year, HITEC recognizes an organization that contributes to the advancement of technology while demonstrating proactive leadership in promoting diversity and inclusion. HITEC is proud to recognize Microsoft as Corporation of the Year for 2019.

HITEC 2019-2020 MEMBER OF THE YEAR AWARD

HITEC is pleased to recognize Darrell Higueros, CEO of Next Generation, Inc (NGI) as the 2019 HITEC Member of the year.

The HITEC Member of the Year Award is meant to celebrate an individual whose leadership, integrity and dedication have contributed to the advancement of the technology industry and specifically the HITEC organization.

“We are so honored and proud to have Darrell as our Member of the Year,” said Guillermo Diaz, Jr., HITEC Chairman and Senior Vice President, Customer Transformation at Cisco Systems, Inc. “He has been such an integral part of the HITEC familia, but also the #ejemplo for helping drive HITEC’s own transformation,” Diaz said.

“Darrell has been an integral part of HITEC’s success over the past decade,” said Omar Duque, HITEC President. “Darrell’s selfless dedication to our mission and his deep-rooted commitment to helping empower Hispanics in all areas of technology serve as an example of true leadership and we look forward to celebrating him and his success,” Duque said.

Higueros has helped drive HITEC’s growth. He has been a member of the HITEC Board of Directors since 2017. He is a member of the board’s Executive Committee and also serves as the organization’s Treasurer. He has been recognized as a member of the HITEC 100 for numerous years. Higueros is a highly successful technology entrepreneur and executive. Next Generation, Inc. HITEC 2019-2020 ESTRELLA AWARD

HITEC is pleased to recognize Miriam Hernandez-Kakol, KPMG’s Principal, Global Head of the Management Consulting Practice and member of the HITEC Board of Directors, as the 2019 Estrella Award recipient.

The Estrella Award recognizes an individual whose leadership, integrity and dedication have contributed to the advancement of technology. The recipient demonstrates excellence in all aspects of their global career while serving as a role model for “rising stars.” Previous recipients of the Estrella Award include Apple Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue; Cisco EVP and Chief Customer Experience Officer Maria Martinez; and AT&T Consumer Chief Executive Officer Thaddeus Arroyo.

As global head of KPMG’s Management Consulting practice, Miriam is responsible for building and executing its strategy, which includes globally deploying its Connected Enterprise digital transformation approach and Powered Enterprise -- its SaaS-based functional transformation solutions. From its inception, Miriam played a significant role in shaping and building KPMG’s Management Consulting business including launching and rapidly growing the Technology Enablement consulting business.

Throughout her entire career, from her days at Bell Communications Research to her current responsibilities at KPMG, Miriam has been focused on leveraging disruptive technologies to transform organizations and help drive positive business outcomes.

Miriam is deeply committed to mentoring, coaching, and advocating for individuals inside and outside of KPMG. She is passionate about helping emerging women leaders and professionals in the Latinx community realize their career ambitions while making a positive impact on their families and communities. She advocates for STEM education and careers by working closely with leading organizations such as HITEC, Junior Achievement, NAF, and Women in Technology and Entrepreneurship of New York (WiTNY).
